Privacy Policy
Effective date: 25 October 2026
Globe Lap is run by Valsted Solutions OÜ (registry code 17236439), Ahtri tn 12, 15551 Tallinn, Estonia. We decide what happens to your data. Questions: run@globelap.com.
In short
- We keep what the race needs: your account, your place, your runs.
- Your route is yours. Nobody else sees it unless you share it.
- We don't sell data, show ads or use trackers.
- You can delete everything from the app.
What we keep, and why
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your sign-in with Apple or Google: an id, and the email they share (with Apple this can be a private relay address) | To know it's you | Until you delete your account |
| Your name, and whether it shows publicly or only to your team | To show you on leaderboards and to your team | Until you change it or delete your account |
| Your town, region, country and time zone | To set your 9:00 start | Until you change it or delete your account |
| That you're 16 or older | Only people 16 or older can have an account | Until you delete your account |
| Your runs: GPS positions, distance, steps, pace and timing, and your phone's state during the run (battery saver, signal) | To measure your run, judge the race fairly, and show you your runs | Until you delete your account |
| Your race entries, team, team requests, local event sign-ups, and names you report | So the race, teams and local events work, and names follow the community rules | Until you delete your account |
| Adaptive athlete mode, if you turn it on | So fair-play checks don't flag wheelchairs or adaptive equipment. It can say something about your health, so we keep it only with your consent | Until you turn it off or delete your account |
| Error, crash and phone-health reports: what failed, app version, phone type and system, your IP address | To fix problems | 30 days |
| Server logs, including IP addresses | Security, and to stop abuse | 30 days |
Why we may: to run the event for you (most rows); your consent (adaptive athlete mode); our interest in a fair race and a safe, working service (fair-play checks, error reports, logs).
Your location
The app uses your location from the moment you start a run (or tap Get ready now on race day) until it ends, also with the screen off. Fair-play checks look for things like a fake location or impossible speeds: runs that fail them stop counting automatically, and borderline runs wait for a person to check. Disagree? Write to us.
What others see
Leaderboards show your name (or "Anonymous"), your country and your distance. World shows only totals per city, never names. Your team sees your name and your distance. Nobody sees your route unless you share it.
Who helps us
- Google Cloud hosts the app's data, in the EU (Belgium).
- Hetzner hosts globelap.com, in Germany.
- Apple and Google sign you in, under their own privacy policies.
- Namecheap hosts our email.
Your data stays in the EU. Server logs, and signing in with Apple or Google, may be handled outside it, under the EU's rules for such transfers.
globelap.com
The website has no trackers. Watching World needs no account. Signing in there uses your app account. If you registered your interest on the earlier site, we keep your email, your message, your time zone and your language, to get back to you, until you ask us to delete them, and at most a year.
Under 16
You can watch World, but you can't have an account or run in the race.
Your rights
You can see, correct, export (your runs as GPX, in the app) and delete your data, and object to how we use it. Delete it in the app: Settings › Delete my data. For anything else, write to run@globelap.com; we answer within a month. You can also complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (www.aki.ee).
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you in the app first.
